(((Midsummer News Flash!)))
So many things to update you on….where to start? Hmmm.
Help please. I launched an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign!
I am so thrilled to have been accepted to attend the Clay Course at Haystack Mountain School of Craft on Deer Isle, Maine, from August 10th – 22nd. The course is a two‐week ceramic workshop with instructor David S. East, Chair of Ceramics at the Maryland Institute College of Art. I’m seeking help to fund half of my costs to attend a Clay Workshop at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. This workshop is a dream opportunity for me. I hope you will consider funding my campaign.
Recently I took a work-vacation from the ocean to the great lakes. I drove with a friend from Halifax stopping in Montreal first. Next stop was Kingston, On for my first outdoor show. It was a beautiful weekend and I was lucky enough to have my sister, brother and a couple of friends help me out for the weekend. My brother had a tent next to mine which made everything so much easier and a ton of fun. It was really great to meet new people and see a new city. Kingston is a super friendly place that really reminded me of Halifax in a lot of ways. After the 4-day show, I made my way up north with three of my dearest friends, that came from three different Canadian cities, for a camping trip. I stopped in Barrie to drop off some work to MacLaren Art Centre on my way to visit family in Wasaga Beach. I finished off the trip with lots of warm and fuzzy family visits all over Ontario.
Kids Pottery Class. Last week I taught a kids pottery class at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. The students learned all kinds of handbuilding techniques and even had a chance to try throwing on the wheel. I had to share this photo of a cat plant pot – a lot of the students loved cats! My kind of kids.
Youth Project – HFX Pride – Pink Triangle Studs
In collaboration with my super smart, super sweet friend Rena, I created and donated these pink triangle stud earrings for The Youth Project to give as gifts in exchange for a donation at Halifax Pride this year. If you missed your chance to score a pair of these beauties at the Pride Parade, you can still make a donation to The Youth Project and receive a pair. The Herald Magazine.
I’m very thankful to Nicole Trask for featuring my work in the July issue of the Herald Magazine. Coincidentally, one of the newest studio members at Wonder’neath was also featured for their architecture design work! Thanks Herald Magazine!!
It’s been a busy summer so far but a really great one. I have a few things up my sleeve for the Fall so check back or watch for the next update. Thanks for reading and supporting my endeavors.
Have an amazing summer!!
